University Quality Service
Since the 1990s, the Politecnico di Milano has felt the need to adapt to the current legislation in the field of Quality Management Systems. The University Quality Centre, a dedicated and autonomous facility, was therefore set up for the purpose of promoting and disseminating the culture of "Quality" in all the departments of the University. This facility has since been merged into the Central Administration to become a service (Quality Assurance Service). Over the years, the main objective has been to obtain third party recognition. In 1998, the Politecnico di Milano obtained ISO 17025 accreditation from SIT (the Italian Calibration Service) as SIT Calibration Centre No. 104. This accreditation was maintained even after the establishment of the Single Italian Accreditation Body (ACCREDIA), becoming LAT Calibration Centre no. 104. To date, the accreditation applies to the following magnitudes:
In 2000, the Politecnico obtained ISO 9001 certification from Italcert, a body accredited by ACCREDIA, for the field of application "Multidisciplinary testing, calibration and consultancy activities for University Departments (EA Sectors 34/35)". In 2003, the certification issued by Italcert was also extended to "Non-institutional training activities and special projects for university teaching" (EA Sector 37). In 2012, the Politecnico obtained ISO 17025 accreditation from ACCREDIA for the multisite test laboratory LAB no. 1275.
The Quality Assurance System supports the University departments adhering to the Politecnico Quality System with the main objective of maintaining and extending the Accreditations/Certifications of third parties.
